The organisation of the INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION “CITTA’ DI PORCIA”, which arrived at 34th edition, is the boast and the pride of the Association Amici della Musica. The competition will be held from 4th to 9th November 2024.
The Competition “Città di Porcia” is the only specific appointment for the brass instruments organised in Italy and it is one of the most important in the world.
There are few contests just for the brass (trombone, trumpet, horn and tuba) all over the world. It was created as a means to increase the value of the wind instruments and its aim is the comparison between musicians coming from different schools and musical traditions that differ in interpretative style and instrumental technique. It wants to be a stepping-stone, an opportunity to promote new talents and future soloists. The prizes include not only money prizes, but also concert prizes in collaboration with important Italian Associations.
As a proof of the quality of the event, in 1996 the Competition “Città di Porcia” became a member of the World Federation of International Music Competition based in Geneva. Thanks to this prestigious acknowledgment the Competition “Città di Porcia” is one of the most important International Music Competitions as proven by the high number of contestants and their country of origin.
The members of the Jury represent not only different schools and styles, but also different countries and nationalities.
The Final with Orchestra, which declares the winners, is followed by a large audience. "Giuseppe Verdi" Theatre in Pordenone seats about 400 people every year. Moreover all the rounds of the competition have been broadcasted via streaming for ages with very positive results in listening. The final with Orchestra is recorded by RAI Trieste and it is broadcasted several times over a year.

Vanto e orgoglio dell'Associazione Amici della Musica è l'organizzazione del CONCORSO INTERNAZIONALE “CITTA’ DI PORCIA” è nel 2024 giunto alla sua 33ma edizione. Il Concorso si terrà dal 4 al 9 Novembre 2024.
Il Concorso “Città di Porcia” è l’unico appuntamento specifico per gli ottoni organizzato in Italia e si colloca tra i più importanti al mondo: a livello internazionale esistono pochissimi Concorsi riservati agli ottoni (trombone, tromba, corno e tuba). Ideato come mezzo di valorizzazione degli strumenti a fiato, il Concorso ha come scopo principale il confronto tra musicisti provenienti da scuole e tradizioni musicali diverse con stili interpretativi e tecniche strumentali differenti. Vuole essere un trampolino di lancio per i giovani musicisti, un’occasione per far conoscere nuovi talenti e futuri solisti. Oltre ai premi in denaro vengono, infatti, organizzati dei concerti-premio con la collaborazione di importanti Enti e Associazioni che operano in tutto il territorio nazionale.
A riprova della qualità della manifestazione, nel 1996 il Concorso "Città di Porcia” é entrato a far parte della Federazione Mondiale dei Concorsi Internazionali di Musica con sede a Ginevra. Questo prestigioso riconoscimento ha proiettato il Concorso “Città di Porcia” tra l'elite dei Concorsi Internazionali di Musica: la riprova è nell'alto numero degli iscritti e nella loro provenienza che ormai ha toccato tutti i continenti.
I commissari di Giuria rappresentano non solo le diverse scuole e stili, ma anche aree geografiche e nazionalità differenti.
La Serata finale con Orchestra, che sancisce i vincitori, è seguita da un pubblico molto numeroso che si attesta tra le 400 presenze presso il Teatro “Giuseppe Verdi” di Pordenone. Da sottolineare ancora che da moltissimi anni tutte le fasi del Concorso vengono trasmesse in streaming mondiale con risultati molto positivi negli ascolti. La Serata finale è registrata dalla sede RAI di Trieste e viene trasmessa a più riprese nel corso dell'anno.
